The Bodman Cancer Centre: recognising a lasting partnership

06 Oct 2026

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation is celebrating a long-standing partnership with Kids with Cancer Foundation.

The partnership has helped support children’s cancer care across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network for almost three decades. This month, we’re also recognising that shared commitment with the unveiling of the Bodman Cancer Centre for Children at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

The Centre is named in honour of Peter Bodman, founder of Kids with Cancer Foundation. It recognises his vision and the organisation’s ongoing commitment to kids with cancer and their families.

Today, the Bodman Cancer Centre is the largest comprehensive paediatric oncology and haematology treatment centre in New South Wales. It brings together specialist services for children with cancer and blood disorders, supporting them through diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care.

For families, the centre provides purpose-built spaces designed around their experience. For clinicians, it provides an environment that supports specialist care, research, education and collaboration.

A long-standing partnership

Kids with Cancer Foundation and Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation have worked alongside each other for more than 25 years. Together, they have supported advances in children’s cancer care across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.

Over this time, Kids with Cancer Foundation has contributed more than $30 million towards children’s cancer care — including both direct donations and pledged support to SCHF. This support has helped fund research, clinical roles, treatment and services for children and families.

Its latest $10.5 million commitment is supporting the Bodman Cancer Centre at Westmead, as well as supporting dedicated oncology family spaces at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

This work reflects a shared commitment to improving cancer care while supporting families throughout their child’s treatment.

Looking to the future

The unveiling of the Bodman name is an opportunity to recognise the people behind this long-standing partnership. It honours Peter Bodman and the Kids with Cancer Foundation team, as well as the supporters and volunteers who have helped make its work possible.

It also reflects what can be achieved when organisations work together towards a shared goal. That goal is to improve cancer care and support for children and families.

There is more to do to improve outcomes for children with cancer. Partnerships like this We thank Kids with Cancer Foundation for continuing to stand alongside Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation and the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network. Together, we are helping create better care and support for children and families facing cancer.
