Patient Family Accommodation Program

Keeping families together when it matters most.

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation Patient Family Accommodation Program provides purpose-built accommodation free of charge for eligible families whose children are receiving care through the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.

Located in Kensington, the program offers 42 self-contained apartments designed to help families stay together during treatment and reduce the stress of travelling long distances for specialist care.

Who can apply?

Families may be eligible if:

  • Their child is currently receiving active care through the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN), with a primary focus on families at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.
  • Accommodation is required to support the child’s access to this active care.

Families will be asked to provide proof that their child is receiving care from the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.

This can be a scan, photo, or screenshot of documents such as a medical certificate, a referral letter, an appointment letter, or a certificate of attendance.

Eligibility is assessed on a case-by-case basis and is subject to availability.

When demand for accommodation is high, priority may be given to families based on medical need, distance travelled, urgency of care, referral pathways, and access to alternative accommodation options.

Requests for multiple rooms or additional family accommodation needs will be considered on a case-by-case basis where possible.
