Celebrating our nurses

Swapping scrubs for suits and ball gowns, more than 400 nurses from across Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network let their hair down on Saturday 20 May to celebrate their achievements at the 2023 Nurses Ball.

The event returned for the first time in five years after the COVID-19 pandemic put gatherings on hold, bringing together nurses from The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, Bear Cottage and the Newborn and paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS) to celebrate the invaluable role they play in our healthcare system.

Major partners, HomeWorld and SCHF sponsored the event which enabled subsidised ticket prices for nursing staff to attend and a photo booth for happy snaps throughout the evening. Thank you to our corporate partners who contributed to the event including Blue Light Car, Clarins, Dyson, GlamCorner, Campari, and LifeLike, who helped make it a special memorable evening.

This year’s SCHN Excellence in Nursing Awards presented at the Ball acknowledged winners and nominees that exemplify the diverse ways in which nurses make a meaningful impact every single day. The awards are a wonderful way to celebrate the incredible work, passion and contributions of our nurses who positively impact the health outcomes of our patients and families across the Network.
