SCHF welcomes a new Patron

30 Nov 1999

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation is honoured to share that we have recently welcomed a new Patron into the Movement of Many.

Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, has accepted Vice-Regal Patronage on behalf of Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation.

Her Excellency is the Queen’s representative within New South Wales, our formal head of State. Playing an integral constitutional, ceremonial, and community role in NSW, she shares a passion for what SCHF stands for and the work we do for sick kids.

"Earlier this year, I was delighted to accept the request from the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation for Vice-Regal Patronage, having seen first-hand the impact of the Foundation in supporting the health and wellbeing of sick kids across New South Wales. In doing so, I am pleased to join you as a part of the Movement of Many, your wonderful community of donors, supporters, friends, and partners, as together we go “all in for kids’ health”, said Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales.

SCHF is humbled that the Governor has accepted our Patronage effective immediately, and we’re thrilled to share this news with our loyal donors and volunteers.

In her role of Vice-Regal Patron, Her Excellency will support our mission as we continue to go all in for kids’ health. As an extremely well respected and prestigious figure in NSW, SCHF is thrilled that we can now align our brand, vision, and mission to that of Her Excellency’s, lending credibility and support to helping raise awareness for SCHF.

“Everyone connected to SCHF feels incredibly proud that Her Excellency has accepted the role of Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation Patron. As we embark on this new partnership, I’m excited to see what we can achieve together for sick kids across NSW,” added Nicola Stokes, CEO of SCHF.

This new appointment does mean that our long serving Patron, Emeritus Professor Les White, will be standing down from his role. Les has spent the last six years as Patron and has been a true champion for kids’ health. We’d like to pay tribute to his longstanding contributions and look forward to growing our partnership with Les for many years to come as we continue to revolutionise kids’ health.

Together, we will continue to engage the community about paediatric healthcare and the significant difference we can make to so many young lives in New South Wales and beyond.
