The Sydney Opera House lit up with colourful lights for Vivid Sydney

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation is thrilled to be the official charity partner of Vivid Sydney 2025, which runs from 23 May to 14 June.

This year’s festival theme is all about dreams – and there’s no one who embodies the power of dreams more than kids in hospital. That’s why we’re bringing their dreams to life in the heart of the city – and inviting you to be part of the magic.

In 2025, Vivid Sydney invites you to dream big. To go to the outer reaches of your mind, to think differently, without boundaries or preconceptions and to immerse yourself in new experiences and ideas. We want you to dream with the lights on, to daydream, to dream without boundaries, to soar.

Dreams that delight, provoke and engage - the motivational, the emotional, the beautiful and the quirky. Vivid dreams expressed through light, music, ideas and food in the most beautiful and inspirational city in the world.

As the charity partner of Vivid Sydney, SCHF have an installation at the festival. Our installation will align with the Dream theme and will be located on the Light Walk in Tumbalong Park, Darling Harbour.

Introducing Dream Scene

SCHF's Dream Scene will invite participants to step into a digital canvas where dreams come alive in a vibrant, evolving dreamscape. The installation is displayed on a striking 10m x 2m screen and showcases the dreams of sick kids  – featuring artwork by patient ambassadors from Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation. Through interacting with the mural, visitors can press play on the childhood of sick kids, immersing them in new experiences and inspiring them to dream without boundaries.

Two ways to get involved with SCHF’s Dream Scene at Vivid Sydney

1. Draw your dream and add it to the mural (6pm – 10pm nightly)

Have you ever wanted to see your dream come to life in lights?

Head to our activation site at Tumbalong Park and take a seat at one of our creative stations.

  1. Scan the QR code and complete a quick sign-up form

  2. Show your confirmation to one of our friendly team

  3. Draw your dream using the materials provided

  4. Watch as your drawing is scanned and instantly appears on the Dream Scene screen, joining a tapestry of dreams that shine for 24 hours

2. Shape the Dreamscape with a simple scan

Prefer to take part in a different way? You can still help shape the mural using your phone.

  • Scan the QR code
  • Choose how you'd like to influence the Dream Scene – from colour and movement to subtle interactions
  • See the dreamscape shift and evolve before your eyes.

SCHF’s Dream Scene inspires the community to press play on the childhood of sick kids, immersing them in new experiences and encouraging them to dream without boundaries.
