With a partnership dating back over a quarter of a century, the Allens' team are very much embedded within the neurology team at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. For 25 years, they have been a steadfast supporter of the neurology department, and have impacted children born today to as far back as the early 1980s.
Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation recently recognised this generational commitment to children’s health by hosting an afternoon tea with SCHF CEO, Nicola Stokes, representatives from Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network Executive team and senior members of the Neurology Department.
For a quarter of a century, Allens' has funded the Paediatric Neurology Fellowship at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. Paediatric neurologists work with children with brain diseases and injuries, treating, diagnosing and rehabilitating them so they can go on to live their lives to the fullest. Thanks to Allens', 20 doctors has been given the opportunity to hone their skills within the neurology department, dedicating themselves to paediatric neurology.
The impact that this has over the course of each Fellow’s career is remarkable and impacts children with brain diseases and injuries not only in Sydney and New South Wales, but across Australia and New Zealand. The life of the Fellowship also coincides with an unprecedented time of knowledge expansion, scientific discovery and therapeutic breakthroughs in neurological conditions, so Fellows stand at the forefront of the treatment of brain injury and disease in children.
Not only has Allens' funded the neurology fellowship, but it demonstrates its commitment to the entire Foundation through workplace giving, support and attendance at major events and support of our previous major appeals.
Our afternoon tea gave SCHF an opportunity to express their gratitude face-to-face, after two years of communicating virtually due to COVID-19. With catering generously provided by The Fresh Collective, our CEO Nicola presented Allens’ representatives with framed artworks created by patients. Current and past neurology department heads were able to update guests on developments within the Neurology department, and explain in more detail the wonderful impact the fellowship has had on children throughout the Network.
