When a child is living with a life-limiting illness, every moment shared with loved ones becomes even more meaningful. For families navigating this journey, the environment in which care is delivered plays a vital role in providing comfort, dignity and connection.

Thanks to a transformative $13 million gift from Mounties to the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) to support the creation of Mounties Care Cottage, families will have access to a dedicated and specialised paediatric palliative care designed to feel like home.

This significant philanthropic contribution will complement the NSW Government’s investment in paediatric palliative care, to bring Mounties Care Cottage to life.

Mounties Care Cottage will become NSW’s second dedicated paediatric palliative care facility, offering vital support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families.  It will join Bear Cottage in supporting the emotional, physical and psychosocial needs of children and their families — allowing them to live their lives with care, compassion, and dignity.

Paediatric palliative care is more than just clinical treatment — it’s a holistic service that supports the physical, emotional and psychosocial needs of children with life-limiting illnesses. It provides vital care and connection for their families, including parents, siblings and grandparents.

Mounties Care Cottage will be a space where children can be cared for in warmth and privacy, supported by world-class medical teams and surrounded by their loved ones. It’s a place for families to simply be together — not in a clinical setting, but in a peaceful, home-like environment tailored to their needs.

Philanthropy plays a critical role in making this level of care possible funding the people, spaces and programs that wrap around families when they need it most. Together, we can create a legacy of compassion and dignity for those who need it most.
