Why I’m Doing 65 Workouts for 65 Roses This May



May is Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. It’s a time to shed light on a genetic disorder that doesn’t always show itself outwardly, but affects every breath, every day, for those who live with it. For our family, and especially for our son, cystic fibrosis isn’t just a word—it’s a constant companion. 

This May, I’ve committed to completing 65 workouts for 65 roses—a symbolic and personal challenge to raise awareness and funds for those living with CF, like our son. If you’re not familiar, “65 Roses” is what many children with cystic fibrosis call their disease, because it’s easier to say. But for us, it’s more than just a phrase. It represents courage, hope, and the daily fight that comes with this condition.

Our son is incredibly strong. He faces more in a day than many of us could imagine in a week—and he does it with resilience, laughter, and heart. Watching him go through treatments, take medications, and still try to live like every other kid his age—it’s a reminder of how unfair life can be. But it's also a reminder of how determined and powerful his human spirit is.

That’s why I’m stepping up in May. If he has to push through things that no child should ever have to deal with, then I can certainly push myself out of my comfort zone too. 65 workouts in 31 days is no small feat—but it’s nothing compared to what our son faces every day.

This challenge is my way of standing beside him. Of saying, “I see you. I’m with you. And I will fight for you.” It's also a way to help raise critical funds that will go directly toward supporting him and others living with CF—particularly during clinic visits where resources and comfort can make a huge difference.

If you feel moved, I’m asking for your support. Whether that’s cheering me on during this journey, spreading awareness about cystic fibrosis, or making a donation—every bit of it helps. Every dollar raised goes toward making life a little easier for kids like ours. For families like ours.

The month of May is Cystic Fibrosis awareness month and it’s incredibly close to my heart. Our incredible boy lives with CF, better known fondly in our house and many around Australia as ‘65 Roses’. He lives a full and amazing life because of his resilience and determination as well as the incredible life altering medications and treatments that he has access to. 

Sometimes it’s not fun, not fair that he has to do all of his treatments twice a day every single day and his brothers don’t. 

So in the spirit of not always taking the easy road and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone, I am making a pledge to do 65 workouts for the entire month of May! It won’t be easy, I won’t always want to do it, but neither does our son on days that he doesn’t feel like it. 

Help me to raise as much money for the Children’s hospital Westmead as they have been there for us since day 1 and we are so grateful!
