How we are helping
Where your donation goes
Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) is one of the largest and most trusted kids' health charities in Australia – and one of the most influential hospital foundations globally.
As the exclusive fundraising partner of the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN), we are at the forefront of life-changing care for sick kids. Our support stretches across Sydney's two children's hospitals (Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and The Children's Hospital at Westmead), specialised care services (Bear Cottage and the Newborn and paediatric Emergency Transport Service [NETS]) and Kids Research.
As the biggest children’s hospital foundation in the country, we fight for the future of sick kids, helping achieve both immediate effects and long-term impacts, changing one kid’s life today and future-proofing the health of all kids tomorrow.
While the benefits of this work are felt most within the local communities we serve across NSW, we collaborate on both a national level and on the international stage. Through collaboration and shared knowledge, we’re helping elevate children’s healthcare around the world.
Our funding priorities
Sydney Sick Kids Fund
The Sydney Sick Kids Fund is the most powerful way to support sick kids – helping us fund what’s needed most, when it’s needed most, across the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network.
Every dollar helps us fund urgent needs across the Network - from lifesaving equipment and groundbreaking research to family support, staff training and critical infrastructure. Giving through the Sydney Sick Kids Fund ensures your donation creates the greatest possible impact.
Current needs across the Network
We work closely with Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network to identify areas where fundraising can drive impact. Right now, donations to the Sydney Sick Kids Fund can make a difference across the following areas.

Cancer Care, Treatment and Prevention
Every year, nearly 1,000 kids and adolescents in Australia are diagnosed with cancer. And every week, three children die from the disease.
Caring for kids with cancer is complex and requires teams of experts to come together to support them and their families.
While teams are working together to deliver the best possible care for these children and their families, researchers are exploring revolutionary treatments and advancements in care to help bring us closer to a cure than ever before.
By supporting Oncology departments across the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, we are investing in the best and brightest minds, equipment and resources to treat, cure, and one day prevent childhood cancer.

Child Life, Music and Art Therapy
Spending time in hospital can be difficult for adults, let alone for children, but at Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, kids can spend time with Child Life Therapists, Music Therapists or participate in the Arts Education program to help minimise the stress and anxiety that hospitalisation may cause.
By supporting these expert teams, we can help create positive experiences in the healthcare environment through the use of play, music, education and self-expression activities, helping to boost children and young people's confidence and feelings of empowerment.

Advanced Training for Paediatric Doctors
Demand for paediatric services is growing, and expectations for care are changing. To stay ahead of this rising demand and prepare for the future, we must invest in the people who will drive innovation, deliver high-quality care and respond to the challenges of tomorrow.
By supporting the SCHN Fellowship Program – we can help provide the best and brightest paediatric doctors with advanced, specialised training in their chosen fields to keep our hospitals at the cutting-edge of critical, lifesaving care for kids today and for generations to come.

Research and Clinical Trials
It can take up to 17 years for research to translate into clinical care – that's an entire childhood.
Through their important work, the Kids Research team has gained crucial insight into childhood disease, developed better diagnostic methods and treatments and run hundreds of clinical trials.
By supporting Kids Research, we can help turn discovery into practice sooner, changing the future for sick kids and their families.
