Our programs help make that possible. From keeping families together during treatment to fostering creativity, community and belonging, these initiatives provide practical and emotional support when it's needed most. Together, they're helping create a better healthcare experience for sick kids and their families, no matter where, no matter what.
Patient Family Accommodation
Keeping families together when it matters most. For families facing long distances and specialist care, this program offers free, purpose-built accommodation in Kensington—42 self-contained apartments designed to ease the burden of travel and support families to stay close during treatment. Because when a child is sick, being together shouldn't be one more thing to worry about.
Patient Family Supporter Program
No family should face their toughest moments alone. This program keeps patient families and their networks connected to the hospital, welcoming them into a community of over 8,000 unstoppable changemakers who share a sense of belonging and purpose. Whatever feels right for your family—whether that's fundraising, volunteering, sharing your story or simply staying in touch—there's a place for you here, changing the future for sick kids together.
SCHF Art Program
The SCHF Art program was a vibrant part of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network for over 20 years filling the walls and wards with artwork from the collection, rotating exhibitions each season, inviting professional artists to work on special projects across clinical spaces and visiting patients and families at bedside to engage them in creative experiences to brighten their day and engage young minds.
The SCHF Art Program continues through the ongoing production of art packs – artist designed creative resources with everything young artists need to make and create while in hospital. These are freely available form SCHF front of house offices at Randwick and Westmead hospitals.
