Rainbows & Pineapples - Swim

By David Dang

Another year done

What a privilege to have my daughter Zoey see me through last couple hundred of metres to complete the 2km goal.

Thanks to everyone who donated, it means the world to our family.

It's time...

If you know me...
I pride myself with discipline & consistency...
Life's happened & you roll with the cards your dealt...

Preparation hasn't been ideal but we will do what we can with good old fashioned work ethic.

Tomorrow I swim for my late daughter, this year I get the privilege of doing it with my Zoey by my side...

Let's go...

Hospital visits, house moves & life things...

It's been a in busy November...

Lots of life things happened, hospital visits, house move... So we've had to postpone the swim until December once I get into of things...

It'll happen just need some time to get on top of life...

Just an update...

Thank you legends for supporting me on this journey.

I have been hacking away slowly and life has happened so here's a little update:

Week 1 - was a bit of a struggle, it was the first time I've even attempted to do a 25m lap in 30 years and it showed...
I couldn't quite make the distance and just general unfamiliriaty with having my head under water triggered every survival instinct..
~300m done with lots of start/stops in a 25m lap.

Week 2 - was a little better, focused on my breathing and exhaling under water and this led to more consistency, but still overall the lack of familiarity with water again being my achilles heel...
~400m this time round in a 30min block

Week 3 - better again, focused on breathing and two stoke breaths, I am now able to consistently do 25m laps with 40s breaks between laps... the consistency is helping with familiarity with water...
500m this time round in a 30min block

Life has also happened in the mean time, so we are going to push the swim to the 30th Nov, as we will be a bit busy with life on the 23rd Nov which was the original plan.

Help me celebrate with a gift to Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation!

In Loving Memory of our Angel Lilli Evy Dang.

This year I have been inspired by my big little girl Zoey.  Her progression in swimming has been nothing short of astounding and I couldn't be more proud of her.

So this year I am going to give swimming a shot, its not alot but I am aiming for 2km. However for those that know me, I'm more sink than swim, but I won't ever die wondering.
