Over $6,156,915 raised for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick at our 10th Gold Telethon Appeal

11 June 2019

We did it! The past six weeks have seen an amazing effort from donors, volunteers and hospital staff who came together in so many inspirational ways to help sick kids during the 2019 Gold Telethon Appeal.

Culminating in the live Telethon on Channel 9 yesterday, the broadcast featured moving stories from patients and their families, hospital staff and appearances from Channel 9 personalities and the record breaking $6,156,915 total was announced.

Today Extra’s David Campbell hosted yesterday’s ‘pyjama party’, along with 10-year-old Ollie who returned as the hilarious and courageous co-host for the day.

Voice superstar coaches Delta Goodrem, Boy George, Kelly Rowland and Guy Sebastian joined the fun alongside Nine’s favourite personalities including Georgie Gardner, Deb KnightRichard Wilkins, Sonia Kruger, Belinda Russell and Peter Overton.

The celebrity call centre boasted a huge array of sports and tv stars answering donation calls, with Married at First Sight’s Michael also following through on his huge commitment to shave his head on live TV after fundraising for the Hospital!

Nicola Stokes, CEO at Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation says, “Thanks to this inspiring collective effort, we’ve raised over $6.15 million for the latest equipment, ground-breaking medical research and vital services. The extraordinary care and priceless gifts these funds can provide, like a child learning to walk again after surgery or the peace of mind a parent feels after months of worry, are worth far more than their weight in gold. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and got involved with our Gold Appeal. Your support will give every child the chance to thrive.”

Thank you to the generous support of viewers and businesses around NSW on telethon day, as well as everyone who supported throughout the whole appeal! The difference you have made in the lives of sick kids is huge and we thank you!
