Golden Gifts with Tristan

14 May 2019

Meet Tristan- the little boy with the big smile who is helping us share the message of our 10th Anniversary Gold Appeal in 2019!

You might have seen Tristan’s great big smile around town, as we are lucky enough to have him featured on our Gold Appeal posters in bus shelters, train stations and billboards across Sydney!

Tristan has had a harder start than many, being diagnosed with a very rare form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. After falling ill last year Tristan has spent a lot of time at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. His whole family, including 4-year-old sister Lauren, has had to adjust to a new routine travelling between home and the Hospital. Golden Gifts can really help kids like Tristan, not only with lifesaving equipment, but by providing comfortable place for Tristan and his family.

Tristan’s Dad Paul has seen the action of these gifts firsthand: “Experiences like this can put a strain on the whole family. But what really helped was the fact that the staff – nurses, doctors, assistants, and volunteers - were all prepared to go above and beyond in our time of need. That was their Golden Gift to us.”

After 6 rounds of chemotherapy, and a difficult search for a bone marrow donor, Tristan is doing well! He still needs to visit the hospital a few times a week for treatment, so his journey to health is still ongoing.

Help us give kids just like Tristan a Golden Gift today and support us in our Gold Appeal.
