Golden Gifts on Gold Day

1 May 2019

Gold Day kicked off today in Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick, marking the 10th annual Gold Appeal! This year’s appeal aims to be bigger than ever before, with a view to raising $6 million towards helping sick kids survive and thrive.

This year’s Gold Appeal celebrates the golden gifts that come from these donations, from helping a child to take their first steps after surgery or the peace of mind you can give to parents after months of worry.

The festivities began with fun, food, music and entertainment for all, with one of this year’s key sponsors, Pherrus, generously donating $44,000 to kick-start the Fundraising. Event sponsor Emu Australia were on hand to give their Golden Gift of Emu boots to all kids in the Hospital, keeping everyone cozy for their stay in Hospital!

Some famous faces from channel 9, including Deborah Knight and Richard Wilkins, were on hand to add that extra sparkle and report on all the action. The Channel 9 team will be doing their part over the next six weeks by encouraging people at home to give their Golden Gifts, all the way until the Gold Telethon Broadcast on Monday 10th June.

Plenty of smiling (and painted) faces could be seen in the Hospital foyer eating ice-cream, making balloon-animals, enjoying the petting farm, tapping along to music, and making memories in the photobooth!

Improving the lives of sick kids could not be done without the Golden Gift of your donations. Join thousands of Australians choosing to help sick kids this year. Give a special golden gift to the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation Gold Appeal today.
