Community unites to Light up Christmas

20 January 2020

With the support of corporate partners and the broader community, the Foundation’s Light Up Christmas appeal has officially raised an astonishing $626,000, and counting, for sick kids.

The generosity received over the festive season has been overwhelming and we are very excited to share the incredible outcome of our Light Up Christmas Appeal which saw corporates and residents across NSW help brighten the lives of sick kids.

After learning sick kids in hospital often worry Santa won’t be able to find them, 65 houses responded by turning their houses into twinkling satellites to help guide Rudolph to both the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Their combined efforts and the hundreds of locals who visited raised over $57,000. Long-term supporters of Lights for Kids, Matthew Redman and his beautiful family raised $16,000, with his fund donated in the memory of his loved one Lauren.

To join residents’ efforts, our CEO Nicola Stokes also called on corporate leaders and partners to join her in “Donate Your Hourly Rate.” 145 associates cheerfully jumped on board to help give the greatest gift of all to kids in hospital – the very best care.

The tremendous support of corporates and community undoubtedly helped us achieve the Appeal’s goal in brightening the lives of sicks kids.

Also, word on the ward is Santa easily found his way to the hospital, with time to spare for his glass of milk and cookies!
