Luke Runs the New York Marathon

By Georgie Abbott

I’ve chosen to raise much needed funds for Sydney Children's Hospital

This Sunday (5th November) I’ll be taking part in the New York Marathon and I’ve made sure I have something to motivate me to the finish line.

I’ve joined Team Kids for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, who provide care for more than 69,000 seriously ill and injured children every year. From broken bones to life threatening illnesses the Sydney Children’s Hospital is dedicated to making sure that every child has access to the best possible care when they need it.

Whatever you can afford will make a huge difference. Today, Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation told me about a young boy called Blake. He was 5 years old when he woke up one morning and couldn’t move his legs. His terrified mum rushed him straight to the local Hospital, but he needed urgent specialist care for a suspected stroke so he was airlifted to Sydney Children’s Hospital. Supported by the Rehab2Kids team, Blake slowly made progress. He learned how to lift his head again, to sit up and stand and eventually to walk, with assistance. By the time Blake finally went home, he was ready to start school.

It only takes 30 seconds to make a donation directly on my fundraising page. Every small donation will make a big difference in the lives of sick children, like Blake. And, of course, encourage me to complete the run and cross the finish line with a smile.

Thank you for your support!
