Alexander’s story

Five year old Alexander looks like a typical boy of his age who has nothing more to worry about than what game to play next with his three brothers and sisters. But in fact, Alexander bravely lives with epilepsy, facing each day with a big smile.

Koby’s story

You wouldn’t know by looking, but adorable three year old Koby has gone through more than most adults have in his short life. Thinking he had a simple fever, on Christmas Eve in 2008 Koby’s parents took him to their local Emergency Department at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. Tests revealed the worst, Koby actually had Leukemia. From then on Koby and his family were put on a rigorous treatment schedule to rid Koby’s body of the disease.

Cambell’s story

Cambell is a typical eight year old boy who loves to play on his family’s farm in Merriwagga, 100kms from Griffith. Last October his mum Ellen discovered a lump on his neck and tests revealed that Cambell had a type of cancer called ‘Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma’. Within days Ellen and Cambell were driving the seven hours to Sydney so Cambell could begin specialist treatment at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

Niamh’s story

Makayla’s story
At just five years of age Makayla suddenly suffered a fit that lasted 54 minutes. She was rushed to Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick by ambulance where she was diagnosed with epilepsy. She was on the ward at the Hospital for one week and underwent tests that monitored her brain activity to understand the severity of her condition. Family friends had commented on the particularly dark circles under her eyes the day before her first fit – the only sign her body gave of the impending seizure. READ MORE
Madi’s story
In September 2008, 5 year old Madilyn was constantly feeling sick and tired, so her doctor referred her to Sydney Children’s Hospital. Madi was diagnosed with a very rare form of kidney disease – only 3 or 4 people in a million have it. READ MORE
